I think Blu Ray is kind of a dud. The incremental picture qulaity is just not that compelling for the price. Once pricing drops to sub $100 then sure.

Buying it as part of PS3 was worth it but I think the technology overall was a bit of a disappointent and a scam to get people to 'upgrade' their DVD collection, so the studios could squeeze more money out of their libraries.

lol @ Haze crack lol. saw that **** for 12.99 at GS.  imagine the poor soul that paid 59.99 for that lol.

there are some movies you just have to see in bluray.  all the superhero movies look great (i.e Iron Man, Batman, FF4, etc).  spiderman 3 was crap but the scene with the final battle with sandman/spidey and gobby was amazing.. the sand animation was drool worthy.  transformer movies, things with that kind of action (explosions, high speed chases, etc) and lots of lighting special effects always look awesome.  can't wait for Star Trek to come out on Blu ray.. it will look divine!

what do you use to play movies on the Hitachi DoD?  regular DVD player?
I think it's a Dolby Digital dVd player that i run through my Sony reciever.  I dont even kno what it's really capable of lol.  Looks like a F'n electronics store in my room wit chords running wild!

lol.  no worries. the reason I was mentioning it was becuz if u hook up ur ps3 to your Hitachi you won't gain the benefits of the better resolution like u do on your smaller set.  1080p>1080i.  Progressive is just faster than interlacing that's all.  I do have a HD-DVD putting out at 1080i on my 1080p set and it still looks great but not as great as a bluray.
I agree it does look alot better playin on the 32in then the 57in.  Seeing UT3 on that big of a screen though kicked some serious a$$.  One day i hit PIP & was playing Madden 08 while watching a Cowboys game & had my first ps3 siezure shortly after that.
lol @ seizure lol.  yea that's the interlacing that's doing that.  I noticed the dif with Batman Begins.  before I got into HD I bought Batman begins on DVD.  looked great because the DVD upcaled on the 1080i.  then I bought the HD-DVD (the player was 1080i and the LCD was 1080i at the time) and it looked hot as hell.  Then I bought it again on Bluray to play on my ps3 to my samsung 1080p.  man.. it's hard to explain but the visuals were kick a**!  it's hard to go back to regular TV after experiencing 1080P at 120mhz on BluRay.  if that wasn't enough.. the LED TVs look even better.  man .. when will it END!!?!?!?  I can't afford it all ! ! ! !

Bought it back in June of 2008, cost me like $2164 + tax. Well worth the money though. Freaking love my HDTV

sounds just like mine spec wise.  I paid roughly 1700 from amazon when best buy had it for 2200.  the tv is amazing.  bluray on HDMI is just mindblowing so I know what you mean.  My model is LNT4071(f).  I suspect urs might be the same or close.  I've been eyeing their new LED series and am biting my lip wondering if it's worth it.  Helly, as good as our models are (and let me tell you.. before I bought this one I was drooling in front of it every few days at best buy) the new Samsung LEDs are mind shattering.  I didn't think it was possible to beat the one I bought but it did.  the demo I saw really showed me what it could do.  it's simply the most lifelike picture I've ever seen.  right now it's on sale for 1599.  I'm so tempted to get it but I'll be so broke as I need a new ps3 as well.  sigh.. when u get a chance go to best buy and go to the LED samsung section and check it out.  you won't believe it till you see it.
