whos had YLOD?

K i'm good now, phew but its time to buy a heat gun and fix it I think

Switch on m/c and hold down eject button to retrieve disc. Also I have YLOD for some time now but I manage to eventually get the PS3 to boot up. After quite a few YLOD failures i eject disc then switch off the m/c and on again from the back. I keep re-booting by the normal on/off switch at the front of the console until I get the green light. Normally I have to switch my sound settings from TV to headset, change the HD settings and manually log in to PS network but its cheaper than replacing it. Oh! I realise it won't last much longer so I've bought some stuff to repair the motherboard myself. I tried backing it up but I need a FAT32 HDD which can only hold 32 gb of data but if u buy a new PS3 u can connect them together via ethernet cable and transfer from one to the other.

what model do you have? 60gb?

haha hey man sounds like ur having the EXACT same problem im having.. only my case it is both times it took 2 weeks to break again... ive sent it bak to them after the 3rd time its broke down.... hopefully gonna get it replaced.. and with al the trouble ive got im gonna see if i can get a slim from them :P... man u copying me lol

i still keep getting YLOD but with mine if u keep ur finger on the on/off switch for a little while it stays on rather than switching off. Yes its a bit hit and miss but its cheaper than buying a new one or investing in paste and coolant to fix it. Ive had my PS3 2 yrs 7 months so every day is a blessing as they say!

my ps3 has ylod switches off as soon as i try to boot it up then bleeps. Eventually it works if i persist, ive cleaned fan etc, but it takes 10-15 mins to get up and running. Last week it rebuilt my hard drive b4 booting but it wont last much longer i know - its 2.5 yo and i use it almost every day.
