Upload speeds/online gaming

I'm back and my system is running smoother then shakiras' as$!! But i have noticed i've been getting bounced out of psn lately. Still have internet when i get kicked off, so maybe a psn thing??? Anyone else getting kicked off???

i told you in other post what i ping now but when i was on sh!t gear and on dsl i would ping 56 or so to chicago, thats around 240miles away, but with cable and sh!t gear i was about the same, after i got better gear i ping around 16 to 32 to chicago and average 56 to newyork (around 1000miles away).  i know that distance doesnt always determine your ping as well but i am MCP MTA certified and i go to school for networking and server administrating. i know that type of ISP GEAR AND SETUP determines over all proformance no matter what..  like i said in other post.. you could have 100mb download but  sh!t gear and it will equil sh!t net overall bottom line.

Your connection sounds awesome, but uping the Bandwidth won't see ping rate improvement at those levels. again wifi and your gear will make a big difference in your ping as well. with a cheap belkin surf n go router and my ps3 on wifi i would ping 56 to chicago with my netgear with hardline connection i ping anywhere from 16 to 32 and thats at least 240miles from my house, hell i even ping average 56 from minnesota to newyork and im not sure how many miles that is but im sure in 1000plus WiFi and your gear effect ping, not because of your bandwidth, but because they are restrictive appliances. The point of a router is to make multiple devices share a single connection. Therefore, a router that is less restrictive would lead to lowered ping. This has nothing to do with the effect caused by bandwidth (your internet connection). If you want to know what your true ping is to a specific server, plug your PS3 directly into the cable moden and check that way. That is the least restrictive check.   Also the recieving server has a play in this equation. So distance is not the greatest factor in ping. s h i t recieving server = s h i t response time.   Also Aqua's post is even moe money in explaining the factors invovled.

uh i didnt say that wifi and your gear effect your ping because of bandwidth so?  i said sh!t gear will produce sh!tter results in speed and connection. 

At one point I ran 4 UT3 servers wirelessly from my garage - all on the same box.  ISP bandwidth was 20/5.  Nobody had any idea they were wireless.  The box was set up for a 300Mb data stream at 5.8MHz, used QUAD Core P4 at 2.3GHz, 7,200 RPM WD Scorpio Blue Drives in RAID 10 configuration, 750W power supply and had 16 Gb RAM.  IF SSD was available, I would have used them.  That would have been sweet.

Open a DOS Prompt (windows) and do a Trace Route to a known server (any server will do).  You'll see a list of hops and the speed between the hops.  It will look like this:
