Jibba if you wouldnt mind, i think you should put your server back to duel as soon as possible, in DM it doesnt get used and we need a duel US server if you kno wat i mean, your server was always filled in duel

Hey guys, I know i've been MIA for a while and I'm sorry....just got busy with real life stuff...and when I would have a little free time I just wanted to go chill...but anyway....

So, I'm all for anything you guys want to do.  If there's enough people that want to do it then lets try it. 

First - I'd like every team to pick one person to be sort of like a captain...that way I don't have to deal with a million people.  That captain needs to send me a roster.  If I remember right, the way I tried to do it before was your roster plus one substitute.  I think we should do the same here.

Second -  You guys will have to help me with what the setup should be as far as number of caps, which maps and time limit....and any other VCTF specific things that need to be noted in rules etc.  I have no idea what is competitive for VCTF.

Third - I'm sure the CTF guys are gonna jump all over me but I'm thinking we shouldn't do a refundable fee...it obviously just puts people off.  btw...That wasn't the only reason the CTF tourney got scrapped...there were not enough teams in the end to make it worth it...if I had enough teams and people responding to me that they wanted to play but couldn't pay I would have went forward with it anyway...but the simple fact is I didn't...Half the teams just fell off the face of the earth at the end...I couldn't even get people to respond to me so I aid screw it.

Fourth - I need to check on what the site funds are to see what makes sense for some sort of prizes.  I was going to try and get everyone something for the CTF tourney attempt but I don't think that is going to work for this...there's just too many people.  I'm open for suggestions here though...if you guys want to not have a larger first prize but have smaller prizes for more people just to attract more people to play I'm fine with that as well.  I'm guessing there is probably around 250 bucks in the site funds...and I would be willing to throw in another hundred or so if needed.

Fifth - Servers....need to know who has servers that we can use and where they are.  If I needed to do a 1 month rental on 1-2 servers...and/or host one from my PC I can do that as well but from my point of view if we can save money on the servers because people already have them then there's more money to put towards prizes.


So....other than that I guess I would just need to put together a post with general rules etc...and then see if I get enough people sending me rosters.  I'll also need to look at the calendar and talk to the wife to see when there is a free weekend coming up to pick dates I will be free.  I'll try to get both of these things done tomorrow.

i personally feel just prizes for 1st and 2nd place.

and 3rd place gets  a shoutout and maybe a t-shirt lol. but seriously just top 2 get a prize i think that would be cool.

jibba said he would lend his server, im sure aqua would, and im sure bain would as well.

 

i personally feel we should do 2 outta 3 because most games are gonna go into overtime :(

 

lol we should do an overtime limit where if its been over 30 minutes of overtime just do a 10minute greed on that same map. (just a suggestion)

I was diging through the .ini file and my server says it has two (2) spectator slots above the 16 player slots.  I'll check with clanwarz to see if that's accurate.

I have a quad core machine with 8Gb of ram sitting here and another brand new Intel i7 box (also a quad) with 8Gb RAM and 1Tb of space.  I have run 8 servers simultaneously on the first box before (lol - all wireless and nobody noticed!).  I may cook an extra server up for the tournament and we can test drive it for lag.

I would PC host from New Mexico to help lag for West Coast players but the link is broken so I can't download it
