oh **** guys, just 2 minutes ago I got an e-mail from Sony saying PSN is offline, and there has been a security breach!!

I mean, how much damage can reaaaally be done in 10 days when they might have your credit card details?

just got the same email too Confused .. I think that it's up to Sony to take its responsibilities and to warn credit companies like Visa, Mastercard etc about the fact that they have been hacked.

i never put a credit card number in the internet! i alway pay for stuff at "the front door" of ma house.....because i got a friend in us he is working for a internet secruity company...he says to me that nothing is 100 % save !

TBH I don't recall telling it to save but I know it saved mine because when my card expired and I had to enter a new one I had a heck of a time finiding where the info was stored to change it.  It wasn't in an obvious place, or at least obvious to me, lol.
 
As far as erroneous charges, I'm not too worried about that because having worked at a financial intitution in the fraud department I am aware of what is covered for fraudulent charges and for most (if you watch your account) you should not have an issue.  What concerns me more is all the other info they got with the card info - name, address and especially date of birth.  What Sony needs to do is offer free credit monitoring services for all effected individuals who want to sign up for it.  This is what Countrywide did when they had a security breach.  I got free credit monitoring for two years when they were hacked and had info stolen.

I had my card information saved to my account, but removed it earlier this year after it expired. I decided to just remove it rather than update it with the new expiration date since I rarely get anything off PSN. I went ahead and requested a new card just to be on the safe side. No one is stealing my monies.

I've never entered my CC number. I've never done it (expect on iTunes). For every online purchase I've got access to an service from my bank which allows me to create a unique number for a unique transaction of the amount in question. That way, my real CC number doesn't appear on amazon for example.

I'm more concerned about the other informations the hackers get: name, address etc...
So, I'm still going to monitor my account more carefully in the weeks ahead.

When you delete a creditcard you ever used on there, are there really no records left?
