@bain riots are not a common enough occurrence to justify the 'need' ....civil unrest & looting mainly follow natural disasters and they are almost nvr there to defend it

@phant im not assuming that at all, realistically there are bound 2 b a good number of soldiers that would side with the people but that still would mean very little when only a handful of people area needed to command a contingent of drones, satellites,  etc...the soldiers don't get to take their missiles home or anything. in a scenario of people vs government, we would have plenty of footsoldiers no doubt, but even if we outnumbered them 10 to 1 they have enough people to thin our ranks 24/7 without even setting foot outside.

@seph it doesn't only take 1 shot but then again handguns don't only hold one bullet, u fire as fast as u can pull the trigger, but lets be honest here 90-99% of the people that own high powered rifles are people who have an extreme amount of experience with guns, theyv had a fair amount of training & marksmanship so im not sure how likely it is theyd miss their shot especially in a situation where ur facing armed criminal(s) which would be extremely close range 3ft-15ft away.
and gun creation wasn't to protect it was to conquer & kill thats wat i said, for one nation to bring another into submission & gain access to their resources

but uv been around guns a long time no? had a parent/family/friend teach u over years? i could b wrong but i don't think u just one day decided u wanted a gun without ever holding 1 b4 & went n bought a big rifle and start derp'n around with it in the woods.
and yea a pistol fires single shots with each press of the trigger, instead of spray-and-pray but a pistol still holds a clip of bullets. i wasn't suggesting a pistol that only held 1 bullet period like a 1800's prostitute's pea shooter lol

The gunman followed them and entered the theater so he could shoot more people. He started shooting and people in the theater started running and screaming. It’s like the Aurora, CO theater story plus a restaurant!

Now aren’t you wondering why this isn’t a lead story in the national media along with the school shooting?

There was an off duty county deputy at the theater. SHE pulled out her gun and shot the man 4 times before he had a chance to kill anyone. So since this story makes the point that the best thing to stop a bad person with a gun is a good person with a gun, the media is treating it like it never happened.

Only the local media covered it. The city is giving her a medal next week. </span>


good post Seph... this story does show the other side of the issue... the deputy probably saved some lives... police officers put everything on the line every day for all of us, and they still get a bad rap at times? they have a real tough and dangerous job... this story shows how their never really off duty

Just a little heads up to educate some of you on automatic rifles and their NFA friends:

Automatic weapons, suppressors, short-barreled rifles, short-barreled shotguns or AOW's are all NFA items and regulated by the ATF. They are a major PITA to acquire since the ATF makes you jump through numerous hoops.

Taken from Wikipedia:

"All NFA items must be registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF). Private owners wishing to purchase an NFA item must obtain approval from the ATF, obtain a signature from the Chief Law Enforcement Officer (CLEO) who is the county sheriff or city or town chief of police (not necessarily permission), pass an extensive background check to include submitting a photograph and fingerprints, fully register the firearm, receive ATF written permission before moving the firearm across state lines, and pay a tax. The request to transfer ownership of an NFA item is made on an ATF Form 4.[14] Many times law enforcement officers will not sign the NFA documents. There have been several unfavorable lawsuits where plaintiffs have been denied NFA approval for a transfer."

These highly regulated firearms are not the guns that are being used in high-profile shootings that the media loves to cover/twist in order to demonize responsible, law-abiding gun owners. What is being used are semi-automatic AR-15's (CO and CT) and handguns with really big magazines. Banning either of these won't do a damn thing, either. Sorry to burst your bubble Feinstein.
