Not sure how this related to open tournament? But they used the word 'radical' so they get bonuspoints for that. |

You can probably get a good pre-built PC without having to do Alienware prices.
So as I understand it Epic is going to build a backbone with veteran UT designers and then iterate upon that with the community? That makes sense. It was also the top post on Hacker News, so presumably there'll be plenty of experienced open source guys involved. I'd think it'd be interesting if they livestreamed some of their design decision meetings. Related links for the project (wiki and forums): https://wiki.unrealengine.com/Unreal_Tournament_Development https://forums.unrealengine.com/forumdisplay.php?34-Unreal-Tournament I like Epic's approach, which makes sense for Epic's use of UT as a promotion of the newest engine. |

VBlanco discontinued the Open Tournament project after Epic's recent announcement.
Basically Epic is doing the same what Open Tournament tried to do, being open-source and community driven. Most of the WIP maps are now be taken under the new UT development. I'm a PC gamer in general and console comes 2nd, so i don't mind it being PC exclusive. If you want to have your input into developing, suggestions and ideas check out this forum: |

id say 90% of the people on this forum will come back if its on ps4. The other 10% either died or gave up gaming cuz they we're terrible at it like fehtalatee.

Next UT is a free PC only title. Confirmed. No console version so far yet confirmed.
If you wanna play on PC with controller -> DS4Tool (with the probability you will get destroyed by good kbm players) FYI, I got a beast PC and I got a version of Unreal Engine 4 running (since I signed up for the team working next UT lol) and.. it drains memory like a b****.. If you wanna play UT4 safe, I suggest looking at the specs of UE4. I was checking for a port for DM-Deck from UT3 to UE4. The base was imported (non-meshed version, like a blank version of Deck) and it already crashed on UE4 :S You probably wont need amazing specs, but if you're running low you'll prob need that upgrade.

Dark, is it possible to build a standalone version that people without the engine can dl? So other people can check on the progress and possibly play eachother once there's been some progress

darkness is there a chance you could upload more footage of updated textures and movement capabilities of the character models? Just interested in how smooth UE4 runs in an FPS situation

@Drokun and Yin
I dont have any info on all of that. I'm just a community level designer trying to pull something out of UE4 for UT4. Like a port of the BSP structure and meshes DM-Deck from UE3 to UE4 which I'm checking out atm. What textures and movement will be in UT4: I have no fn clue lol. I was simply pointing out, that I have UE4, and by predicts for UT4, you will need a pretty beast pc to run. If you have the doe, buy a subscription and check UE4 out for yourselves to determine what movement is gonna be, how textures should look etc. There are also compiled free versions of UE4 available somewhere in the caves of Google. Also, we may hope that Epic releases a standalone version of UE4 for us designers with all the content of UT4 inside of it. Now its just a blank engine. |

Nothing announced. Epic stated it will be a PC only title. Probably wouldn't worry since there will be much demand to release it on console.

I don't think they could easily sustain a community driven port
