I was having this issue and turned off my modem and router. Waited about 5 minutes or more for the IP's to be released by my ISP and then fired them back up. No trouble since.

The first thing that I do is reset my router (unplug the power for about 30 seconds). I don't have a modem though.

Yes ^^....easiest way to avoid most weird PSN issues is to just do this. |

get ur PS3 IP first...go to network settings -> connection status and settings -> there are several IP's here you want the one that just says "IP Address".
Then log into your router and find where it says something like "Default DMZ Server" or something like that....it should have a place for an IP address...put the PS3 IP you got from the first step in there. What kind of router do you have? A model number would be good as well....I can probably find instructions if you have trouble with the above. EDIT: In my case I have a Netgear router and it's under Advanced->WAN setup |

Yeah so in your PS3 the one called "default router" should your router IP address.
The other way to find out your router IP is to go on a computer on your network and bring up a cmdline window (start->run->type 'cmd' and hit ok) and type in 'ipconfig'. The router IP is the "default gateway" You are going to need to know the username and pa**word to login to the router.....hopefully you have that! Have you tried powering everything off and back on? I mean that's not a permanent solution but at least it'll get you back on for now...especially if you can't login to your router. In general the best sequence is to turn everything off...then power up the cable/DSL moden and let it sync up completely....then power on your router and let it come up all the way...then turn on computers/PS3's etc. |

192.168.0.1 and 192.168.1.1 are the most popular default LAN IP's for consumer routers so if you haven't changed it yeah it should be one of the two. The ipconfig method in my previous post is the way to be absolutely sure though. |

Have you checked with your internet provider to see if the problem is with them?

Just curious....have you tried connecting your PS3 directly to the cable/dsl modem? Are they close enough to do that?
Did you get into your router? If you can get into your router but you are not sure what to do we could try to do a remote session so I can take a look....download teamviewer (it's free)...http://www.teamviewer.com |

lol thats what they told me when it started happening to me one time, reseting it wouldnt work. i got the same message, DNS error 9124blablasomething. they said the problem was on my end and i never changed anything. came to find out it was a lose wire in the main cable port box outside after i kept complaining about it and i finally got them off their lazy a**es to come and check it out. but also try reseting your router box by unplugging every thing from it. that helped me a few times when i had the same kind of connection problems when i first started playing ps3 online.

I used to get disconnected all the time and when I turned off "Media Server" in the Network Settings, it completely stopped
also, try getting the dashboard update, you have to manually download. It doesnt do it automatically. |

Does that mean you won't disconnect anymore after that?
