nice.  u should check out me out on myspace.  I have a whole absinthe album with the bottles I've bought.  I still have one left (oxygenee) which is no longer being made which is why I still have it.  But being as I'm not employed anymore, the days of spending 200 dollars on a damn bottle to ship it from the EU are over lol.  it's probably the last one I"ll have in a long time so I'm going to savor it when I do get to it.  On my myspace page I wrote about my first Green Hour in detail in my blogs. 

I too have the slotted spoons and specially formulated absinthe cubes to go with it.  A lot of peeps don't realize that there are two ways to prep it.  The french way, which I know you already do, is to pour iced water over the cube and louche it or the czech way which is to dunk a regular spoon with the cube into the absinthe and set it aflame and then louche.  I've done both but I like the french version better.  it takes practice to burn the sugar as much as possible and not burn it.  The caramelized sugar does give it another level of taste but if u burn it ur green hour would be totally ruined lol.

To those that have bought the czech absinthe I'll say ur braver men than me.  I once bought roughly 300 dollars worth of it simply because the czech (pre ban or post ban) never concerned themselves with having too much thujone content and as such they have some brands that have well over 4 times the needed amount of it.  problem with that is wormwood is by nature a very bitter herb and while the french and swiss use it sparingly the czech believe more is better.  the six bottles of czech absinthe I had delivered to me eventually went to a crazy russian friend of mine who drinks anything.  I couldn't stomach the bitterness.  It didn't even louche properly.  it was like alcoholic castor oil.  just plain nastee.  Now the non czech brands are awesome.  It just depends on what ur looking for.  Here are the one's I recommend if you can afford to buy and ship from the EU:

La Fee Verte:  This is too absinthe what dewars its to scotch.  Not the best absinthe out but it certainly pleases just fine for the price.  it's macerated, not distilled so expect it to be dif from the traditionally prepared brands.  It's strong (68%) and has a peppery and strong anise taste that goes well in the palate.  It louches very well but purists will complain it's articial coloring lends an unrealistic greenish hue to ur finished product.  If you can get past the fact that it's not distilled and that it's a bright neon green then u'll be satisfied. 

Pernod:  Though this is not the same pernod company of absinthe's hey day (wiki it see how much history this brand truly has) it's still one of the best one's I've had.  Again this one is macerated but the proof is in the quality.  Strong herbal taste with only hints of anise make this a more sophisticated taste and the louche is beautiful.  This one is only slightly artificially colorised, letting the herb do some of the job lending this a nice olive green to the liquor and subsequent louche.  it's strong at 136 proof but it's as close to absinthe history as your going to get.  shots from original pernod bottles from pre-ban era (yes they do exist) run about 200-400 dollars.  pricey but worth it to have a genuine taste of DaVinci absinthe in your mouth from the past plus the more time goes by the less chance you have to have that opportunity.

Swiss la Bleue/La Clandestine:  This is a beautiful and clear absinthe from the swiss.  What most don't know is that Absinthe is rumored to have it's beginnings in switzerland and supposedly this brand like a few others comes from the very region that has been producing Absinthe since it's inception (ban or not).  it comes in a beautiful blue tinged bottle with an una**uming label but make no mistake, this is a fantastic blend.  The one bottle I did have was distilled and you can almost taste the dif from other brands.  Crisp and smooth with a nice touch of anise and other flavorful herbs.  the louche is what you would imagine being that no colorants of any kind are used so you have a very milky louche.  Pricier than pernod but worth it to have a dif kind of quality

one of the first times i played this game i played trippin i remember i was on the blue team with a red rocket launcher so i shooting my team and i couldnt hit the talk button cause i was freakin out but kept hearin my team yell at me i think i escorted the game winning flag run for the other team it was crazy
