It shouldn't be said at all, agreed. Black people casually using the word is inappropriate because of the meaning behind the word and because its the same word no matter who says it.

That being said, if you don't cut the very people who were made into the word by whites a little slack, that is being unreasonable. Where did the meaning behind the word come from? A situation that another race of people forced them into. So smugly, humorously, slyly pointing out the hypocricy to me just isn't worth the insensitivity of using the word in the first place, regardless of your point in using it. Yes, many black people say the word, even when millions are watching or listening. They have not been legally privy to the cultural advantages that whites have when it comes to education and a proper up bringing until the end of segregation less than 50 years ago. It is almost like that word is an exception from the norm, it is the one thing that is different for whites and blacks in a messed up way and they aren't responsible for that. All we can really do is leave the word alone entirely and discourage anyone from using it white or black, but not through humorously using it ourselves.

I really do cringe at the thought of debating race on a video game forum for the record. But I feel like that needed to be said and I see eye to eye with you and lunchy on just about everything else so I will leave it at that on my end, no harm no foul.

Race is definitely involved but more than that I am just debating if its ok to use that word or not. I hear where he is coming from, why he is using it but I just don't agree with the logic. Personal opinion, the narcissist in me got it out for the world to see. And I got heavy on the racial aspect of it without making it clear that I know the amount of racists in here, at least vocal racists, is limited to QuickRC. That is really the focal point of my idiot of the day posts. He is fun to shred because he doesn't learn and always comes back for another licking.

Words offend you, regardless of intent, only if you let them.  I've said this before and probably will again.  To allow a word to offend you allows that word power over you, and in turn the people who use it.  Live on the moral high ground people... the air is clear and fresh and the view is amazing ;)
