I got mine about 4-5 months ago. She was a replacement for my previous 15 Aluminum which itself was a replacement for it's predecessor a 15 Titanium. Here's my baby's specs: Hardware Overview: Model Name: MacBook Pro Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo Processor Speed: 2.93 GHz Number Of Processors: 1 Total Number Of Cores: 2 L2 Cache: 6 MB Memory: 4 GB (2x2GB Modules) Bus Speed: 1.07 GHz NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT 320GB 7200RPM HD |

Mine is my replacement for the 15 in aluminum my GF DROPPED!!!! I think you remember that. I got this one used 4 times of ebay. $1099 shipped and it came with a keyboard protector, upped to 4gb of ram and a 7200rpm HD (same capacity, 160gb).
Model Name: MacBook Pro Model Identifier: MacBookPro5,5 Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo Processor Speed: 2.26 GHz Number Of Processors: 1 Total Number Of Cores: 2 L2 Cache: 3 MB Memory: 4 GB Bus Speed: 1.07 GHz NVIDIA GeForce 9400M Not quite as robust as yours but it hasn't stuttered for me yet. It needs to hold me off a couple years until midway through the quad-core macbook pro life cycle. |

oh most def. my last one lasted me a full six years with only one issue which I fixed easily. other than that it was great. if it wasn't that it was pre intel I'd still be using it probably. I only went all out on this one because this is my last one so it was now or never lol Dude, as a fellow mac brethren, I'd drop the GF before she drops another sacred laptop to its ruin lol. between women and macs... I think u know which is more important. lol :P |

hmm never considered that its possible the OS disallows the system from addressing more than 4 GB of ram (could be more of an apple thing to keep upgrading their next lines on purpose of course), if so I think they can do it now if they wanted bt I suspect they won't. besides we're only on 10,6. we still have three more major sw upgrades the OS before we get to 11 |
