Hey all, I've seen a lot of comments about headset use in the games.  I agree completely that headsets completely change the game.  I couldn't play without one and even if I'm creeping around under cover, I always listen.

Let's use this thread to discuss the pros and cons of the headsets we use.  Find yours online and post a link to it so noobs know where to find it and the price.

I use these (both compatible with PS3):

Jawbone (Bluetooth)

Pro - can play all night on a single charge.  Small, comfortable & PS3 compatible
Cons - Expensive, cheaper headset that work just as well are out there. Do_Or_Die_420 cries and whines about not being able to hear me on this one.

Logitech (USB) - for when the bluetooth is charging

Pro - cheap, clear audio and no complaints about my audio from other players.  Only one ear covered so I can hear the game audio just fine.

Cons - Mono, not comfortable after a couple hours of thrashing.  Falls apart when you get mad and slam it on the floor during a match, but it snaps right back together for the next game.

I suspect that better quality sets are available within +$10 of this headset.

I'm using a Jabra BT125 Bluetooth Headset , Black

Here's the same model only 5 bucks cheaper Jabra BT125 Dark Glossy .

This headset is perfect for PS3 use.  It's light, small and I hear things very clearly (any issues with you guys hearing me is the net connection and not due to the headset).  I'm very happy with it and highly recommend it.

Incidentally this is the same headset that came bundled with Warhawk back in the day.  I hated the game and ended up giving it away so in essence I paid 29 dollars for the headset.  If you clink on the link you can get it new from Amazon for 18 + shipping and handling.

Lastly, a good charge can net you anywhere between 4.5 to 6 hours of gameplay (haven't tested if it can go longer).  Mine's almost always charged now that I have it connected when not being used and setting my PS3 powersave setting to turn off after an Hour.  This gives my headset and controller a much needed juice boost.

Hope this helps.

D

I use ventriloquism. Works better than a mic. And I don't have to hold down the right button on the d-pad to speak.

One, I changed my UT3 button config to have the I2 as my voice button quite some time ago. What a difference did it make. So much easier to communicate when you're in the heat of battle.

As far as the headset that I currently use.....well, it used to be a Jabra (I don't remember the model number, but it worked great) until my 2 year old lost the freakin thing. It's in my house, I just don't know where. Then it was some cheap ass PoS that I got for free using google checkout from some website. Then, I bought an iWin blu-tooth headset from best-buy and den.......I got the offical PS3 headset when I got socom, which is what I'm currently using. And to be honest, I haven't really had any major issues.

I would like to get a headset that would allow me to list to the game through the ear pieces that also has a mic attached to it? Is this even possible on the ps3?

I can't see the picture of the headset you are currently using. Could you do me a favor of posting a link for it?

Sorry about the double post.

i bought the jabra bt25 i believe it is, the same one they ended up including with warhawk once that was released, anyhow it did work to a point, but i had enough issues with it that i moved away from bluetooth headsets in general, and got a USB. With my new bluetooth though i seem to not have any of those issues, or much much less frequently, and my ear isnt bright red

This looks almost identical to the one I once had.  I had it for about two/ two and a half years (back about a year before TimeSplitters: Future Perfect went offline.), but recently, a dog of mine.. lol.. "ate" it. (More like chewing/ breaking the plug-in line.. making it useless..)  Either way, it was a SOCOM-endorsed Logi-Tech headset and it was $40, back when I got it.

Btw.. wearing this headset felt kind of painful after some time and like it was said, I had issues with the thing opposite of the headphone falling off, as with the headphone's cover and the cushion inside of it.  Ugh.. so easy to fall apart, but yet, it was almost always fixable.. except the one time the connection line got snapped..

My lady bought me this headset after my previous one was destroyed:

The Jabra BT-2010 charges extremely fast & provides 7-8 hours of talk time.

That one doesn't work either bro, sorry to say.  Whenever you go for ice to mix a fresh drink, you go all fuzzy.  AND, I can still hear you going to the toilet on the new one.  WTF?
