I seen the post about cooling fans and know a coulple people who have had there systems over heating on them and freezing up on them so i want to repost my suggestion to help with these problems. I take both my ps3 and 360 and blow them out once a month with a good air compressor. You would believe how much stuff they suck into them. If you dont have a compressor take it to a gamestop and they usually have one and will clean it out for you. My 360 use to over heat and i thought it was because i need a cooling fan for it, but it was just the amount of nasty **** in it. I found out that some fans void warranys if you have one but your systems will not need a fan if they are clean. Also for people with 360 i suggest taking the hard drive off opening the tray and take the face plate off before blowing it out, the power box also can cause over heating as well if it is not cleaned out (thats the surge protector that has the yellow light on it) Keep your system clean and they will run smoother and last a lot longer.

360's are just glorified toster ovens anyway. What I do is hook up my little attachment from my vacuum cleaner, and hook it up to the hose, then tape off all but about 10% of the hole, then it turns into a ultra mega dust sucking masine! ;)

lol i dont ever clean it out at all and never had a YLOD :D
i think it helps if you like, put it higher than the floor if that makes sense.. if it's on the floor it gathers dust more easily i think, and mine's on my desk. thats what someone told me, anyway |

i agree drok, the farther away you can have your systems from the floor and the tv is a big factor too. your tv is the biggest dust magnet and so the closer your system is to your tv the more they'll suck in. i haven't had as many problems with my ps3 as my 360 being dirty but it does seem like my ps3 doesn't freeze at all as long as its cleaned. both systems run more silent as well after i blow them out. |

i know it might be a dumb question 420 but have you tried having your disk buffed out buy a resurfacing machine? other wise you may need a laser cleaning disk.

most movie stores have a buffing machine and will buff disks out for you. those things make your disk like new. if you have a 'play n trade' store in your area they do it for 3 bucks. maybe just try cleaning out your ps3 as well. also those 'play n trade' stores will clean out your systems or laser if you need them to, they probably wont charge you for it.

DOD----theres a lot of posts blaming the latest psn patch (i think its the 3.15 patch) for the inability to read discs. Check out the forums on playstation.com.........I too have a ps3 that will only play games every now and then freezes up or will not register that a disc is actually in it. I'm gonna wait until the next patch and see if it works any better. Until then I guess I'll have to take my other ps3 back and forth to work. Catch u soon.

Wouldn't let me play heavy rain either, then deleted heavy rain trophy data and quit. I've been searching around, and a few months ago, people said if you get the error code send to sony. But currently, forums are getting loads of threads about everyone having the issue.
