    Posted: 06 Jan 2011 at 9:11am
just found out some news on a forum about FFvs13...

From weekly Famitsu...-Final Fantasy Versus XIII will appear at TGS 10-You can go anywhere on world map (excluding the mountain because it is an open field)-Battles are completely seamless-The town in trailers is modeled after the Shinjuku city-Versus will be huge-Destructible environments-Cloud movement are done by physical calculations-No loading (only when changing from big area to other big area)-People couldn't believe when they saw the destruction of a road in realtime-Staff motivation is up high and they're happy-Nomura: Even though the quality is high we aim for more detailed graphics-Big revelations and the world unveiling of the game at TGS-The Versus screenshots show a fight with a weaponized Behemoth in a city-All the screenshots in the interview are captured from the game running in real time.

Tetsuya Nomura on Final Fantasy Versus XIIIHints from three gameplay screenshots featured in this week's Famitsu.Posted Jun 23, 2010 at 17:29, By Anoop GantayatJoining a lengthy interview on Kingdom Hearts Re:Coded, this week's Famitsu has a significantly shorter interview with Tetsuya Nomura on Final Fantasy Versus XIII.Most of the discussion focused on three new screenshots. It will be a bit tough to follow most of this summary without seeing the screens for yourself, but here are some textual descriptions.* 1. A scene of main character Noctis standing on a cliff, looking out over a vast field, with a highway directly below, a desert clearing in the distance, and mountains in the far distance. The caption for this notes that you can walk as far as you can see.* 2. A scene of Noctis standing in front of a gas station. In the caption for this scene, the magazine notes that one of the themes of the game is a "road movie."* 3. A scene of Noctis facing off against a giant creature in a city-like scene. The visuals here look extremely modern -- you can see crosswalks and even bike lanes marked off on the road below. It looks like an in-game version of Tokyo, except for the giant beast. The screens are all taken off real hardware, Nomura said. The game currently runs at the quality shown in the screens, said Nomura, and they'll be improving the visuals even further. Not only are the screens real time, but they represent the perspective from which you'll play the game. The camera angle is for the most part what's shown in the screens -- from a third person view. They were originally considering switching to an overhead view when you moved into the outside world, but ended up keeping the the world as an open field in order to keep you close to the action.Of course, actual screenshots will have menus and icons. According to Nomura, these bits were removed because they did not want to let details on the game out.Nomura shared some details on a screen-by-screen basis.Regarding the gasoline and field screen, Famitsu noted that the game's sky color is finely detailed. Nomura said first that they're using true physics calculations for the movement of the clouds. He also noted that it took the staff a while to determine the visual direction they would take with the game. They could do all sorts of different visual styles by changing such things as filters and sunlight color.Regarding the field screenshot, Nomura said that the field is an "open field," meaning you can walk through "nearly everything" shown in the field screenshot except for the mountains. He also said, "If you want to go to the end, it's truly far."Regarding the city scene with the beast, Nomura pointed out that the beast is a military-use behemoth. It has a giant sword on its back. The city scene is actually a battle screen. Normally, it would have a command menu and other information. The menus and prompts aren't all that's missing, though. Noctis is shown fighting the behemoth by himself. In the actual game, you'll fight as part of a party. The reason the party members aren't shown in the screen is because Square Enix has yet to officially reveal the weapons and clothing for these characters.Famitsu noted of the battle scene, the "Shinjuku cityscape is real." The model for the area, said Nomura, is the surroundings of Square Enix's Shinjuku office, right down to the bicycle markings on the street. The three areas shown in the screenshots are all connected. The screen with the field and the screen with the gasoline stand are from the same location. The field extends out from the rear of the gas stand. These two areas are located immediately outside the city depicted in the battle screenshot. It all looks like a pretty large area for what appears to be the game's prologue location, Famitsu noted. No need to worry, though, as Nomura revealed that you'll have access to a car. You can board and disembark your car whenever you like. Take your car out into the field area, and you'll eventually approach the submerged area that was shown in past promotional trailers. It looks like you'll encounter monsters out on the field. Some will be roaming about, with Nomura citing an example of a behemoth walking around on a hill in the distance. In other instances, monsters will appear quickly. In this week's "Flying get" column, there was a bullet point about the game featuring both symbol and random encounters. I presume this is where these points come from. Nomura did not specially mention symbol and random encounters, though, so it may be a bit too hasty to picture an RPG-like system.Asked if the field and battles will be seamless, meaning no loading or screen transitions, Nomura said that the battles will be for the most part seamless. When you move between large areas, and when there are event cut-ins, there may be some loading, although the staff is trying to make the game as seamless as possible. The magazine closed off by asking Nomura when we can expect additional Versus XIII details. This is still a ways off, he said, but he added "We're making preparations for a big announcement."

thanks thatsmatt,  the new screenshots does look awesome.  so basically ff13 versus might be a real time rpg like god of war or kingdom hearts or similar to ff12(oh god). yeah yeah we all know games now are trying to make graphics way better than before but the gameplay is what matter the most.  both random and symbol encounters?! what the hell. are they going to just randomly spawn monster symbols in thin air( i'm walking, walking, oh monster pop up but i can go around it). the car thing been done already in ff8. the only good thing is there are gas stations near by. no more walking to the next town for gas hahaha. I hope the game is not going to be like ff12. i just didn't like ff12 at all. walking for long period of time to get to a temple with more walking inside, running away from monster with the useless running away symbol, and going around movement that doesn't help dodge the freaking boss attacks.

nah ive saw some leaked gameplay footage of ff vs 13 and its def not going to be like ff12... its going to be real life gameplay like kingdom hearts... that along wqith having a fully transversable world map is cool xD.. and its going to be more realistic (blood and gore and its not going to be all pretty and magical like other final fantasies lol, going to be the darkest FF yet which makes for a good change... im really looking forward to this game... cant wait for more info to be released on the 11th jan... hopefully a release date also..

Why would a FF game be named after a previous title that it has no relation to?

i know its a bit stupid.. the only thing that ff13, ffvs13 and ff13 agito have in common is that they are set in the same ff universe.. otherwise.. its stated there are not related in any other way... a bit dumb lol

also isn't ff 13 agito is on the psp. it like ps3 ,ps3, PSP. ff13 agito:"wtf I'm not good enough for ps3". they probably wanted to experiment a bit with the new technology or they had some crazy deadlines. game designer don't have alot of time as we think. hopefully the games turn out good.

yeah agito is on the psp... i doubt they didnt release it on the ps3 cos it wasnt good enough.. maybe they just wanted to release it on another platform lol... nothing to do with the games quality.. and im sure the games will be good.. the designers definatly has had enough time, since it began development in 2003 lol. im certain itll be a great game

thats an old trailer, nothing new, plus that isnt the release date.. all "rumured" release dates on youtube and other sites is not correct.. because the producers have not confirmed a release date yet
i did find an article however that the producers did say they are not going for a 2011 launch and may have to wait until 2012.. however this article was dated in august this year so maybe they have changed thweir minds since then, who knows

yeah it being a hack and slash is cool xD... i did really like the turn based fighting, but when i played 12 and saw what they tried to do with more free-roam fighting.. (even though 12's fighting was crap) i always wondered if they were ever gonna do a better version of that or hack and slash xD and now they have lol...ive always loved hack and slash games but there are alot of them and most of them dont have a great focus on storytelling.. they are just all about the fighting (expect for GoW)...
but FFvs13 will be a hakc n slash but with the levels of story and exploration that good final fantasies had :D cant wait

anyone remember secret of mana on snes? that was a great squaresoft hack and slash.

oh and this is the sequel to ffxiii

although i didnt like the first one.. after about an hour and a half i turned it off and never played it again. I know a game like that takes time to get into.. but every single thing i'd seen up to that point was telling me to shut the game off and not waste another second. Rather happy I didnt play it anymore because that game probably would of soiled whats left of my fond FF memories

yeah that game wasnt great at all.... but it was only made the way it was to be more newcomer friendly.. so thats why it was all very simple and set you in one path... other than that there was no memorable characters or even a great plot.. so yeah you didnt miss out on much anyway...

man I wish the ff13 versus allow gamers to play multiple players rather than just one person throughout the story like you can switch from one player to another in your current party while fighting like megaman x7. CPU sucks at support(stupid donald and goofy).
