=(  Point taken Han-Fei, but it is still one of the largest mass murders in US history so CNN will put that story first. My condolences to the people who tried to run for the border.

Neither actually, but this is a thread about what happened in Colorado. Not a thread about Syria, so if what happened in Syria needs to be known start a new thread about it. No sense in making one bad thing look lesser because more people died there. Keep them seperate. Its fvcking stupid that when something like this happens someone has to one up it. Like i said, let people talk about what happened in Colorado in the thread about what happened in Colorado and start a new fvcking thread about Syria. One tragedy isn't worse than another.

Okay, why didn't you just say so ;) but make it sound like what happened in Syria, or better say, happens there everyday is meaningless because there's something that happened in your country

btw I'm not trying to downgrade this in any way.
I can understand HanFei though, I had a similar outburst one year ago, when Amy Whinehouse died. I think it was the same day that Anders Breivik killed 77 people in Norway

Nah we should be allowed the right to bear arms.
We can't stop crazies from getting guns.
We can work to stop cops/soldiers with post traumatic stress from going nuts.

just remember guns don't kill people, people kill people, and we shouldn't let one persons crazy actions change our constitutional rights, as well as the sanctity of how we go see  movie on a Saturday night with our families!

Remind the media, that an AR-15 is not an assault rifle.

What is difficult to understand?  He broke no laws, had no criminal background except one speeding ticket and no (known) documented indications of mental instability. Would it be better if he had gotten them illegally?  Made it somewhat more comprehensible?  It still would not have changed what it is..an obviously deranged individual who was set on causing harm.

I personally believe that there needs to be some limitation to what can be bought but the laws in place are enough.  It is impossible to prevent every possible situation.  To do that would be giving up too much of our rights.  Besides, he seems off centered enough that if he couldn't do it legally then he would have had no moral issues with doing it illegally.

Yes but we all have to agree that it was easier for him to purchase a semi-automatic weapon legally than otherwise. im sure a kid with no criminal background and studying neuroscience would find it VERY difficult to buy these weapons on the street. If anything, businesses should just sell handguns.. no need to sell such destructive artillery to the public... most illegal weapons on the street were initially purchased legally and made their way into the black market

dude's nuts but nothing special when compared to all the other nuts worldwide who have their hand in killing children & other people everyday but we forget about them so much quicker because the media chooses not to make a spectacle of them. horrible incident as any loss of human life is....the world would be so much better off without guns, and those people who say we need guns for safety are full of it, its their kind of paranoia & fear that enables this sort of stuff to happen more frequently & more violently then it would otherwise.

My state brings in most of its profit from hunting. Think about things like that before you say ban guns. Besides its our right. Start taking those away and you start taking away our freedom.

Well I obviously just see things differently then.
To me, it's a secret why people like this have it so easy. Okay, keep your right to bear a handgun, but as Xander said, why so destructive weapons. Why make it so easy.
Weapons multiply peoples power to kill

I'm not trying to take away anything, it's YOUR right as you said. I could care less, I was just giving an Europeans point of view about this.

We don't have that right and live in perfect freedom
A hunter is of course allowed to keep a rifle here though, with the right license. They just need to fulfill certain requirements, on how to store them, seperate from ammunition etc.

if gun control wasn't so politicized then maybe there could be some rational decisions made on the issue, but unfortunately people are totally devided and unwilling to be open minded on the issue... if politicians weren't so full of sh1t, hypocritical and political about the issue then they'd probably be able to make gun laws better without needing a total ban on all guns, but there will never be a way to stop this type of thing! there's just too many guns in the world now... criminals such as illegal arms dealers will always be there ready to sell this same type of person whatever weapons they can afford... our law inforcement and legal system obviously can't handle gun control and keep us all safe... were a Country with 300 million citizens... there's always going to be a few that have no love or respect for life for whatever reason, and there's not much that can be done about that... hope for the best, but be prepaired for the worse would lead a smart law abiding citizen to think that he needs to have a 9mm baretta strapped to his side and a gun permit in his pocket at all times, but i just couldn't ever see myself carry'ing a gun period... if i was in this same situation just try'n to watch a movie, and i had kids with me and i had a gun? how could i not shoot this dude even though i don't believe in killing for any reason? i don't ever want to take a persons life so i'll never carry a gun... i'll leave the rest up to GOD to decide

Why make gun laws at all though? Criminals are breaking the law anyways why would they follow that one? Lol just dumb to even consider.
