Please do not make assumptions , you are much smarter than that. This point however, is credible. I will agree that people who hold the vows of marriage to the highest degree will feel that the process of matrimony is violated and there may be mental anguish. However, my counter argument to that point is that it still does not affect their lives enough that they cannot go on or that their lives are in jeopardy of physical harm or harassment from a gay man or gay woman. |

That works both ways, gays would not be experiencing physical harm nor would their lives be in jeopardy if they were not allowed to marry. (Once again in America It doesn't matter to much to me. It's gonna happen eventually, but what will follow it? That is troubling) And to call my remark about Obama an assumption is interesting. Do you believe politicians are all good men without ulterior motives? Even good men are subtle lol. And if my smart comment offended you, that was not the intention. If I thought you were an idiot I'd let you know. (i.e strider) |

short story... me and my wife went to the 'Howl at the moon' piano bar last saturday, which was full of hott lady's and goofball guys... she went to the bathroom and all the sudden i felt an arm on my shoulder... it was a dude?... he asked if i have a wife in there?... first off i removed his arm... not from his body just from my shoulder lol then i said yea she's right there... he said DAM you did good... then he said this is my fiance... it was a female... my first impression was WRONG lol i must admit that i was instantly like HELL NAW... NOT HERE HOMIE... YOU BARKING UP THE WRONG HILLBILLY :) but the instant he said this is my fiance i was fine, and we had a good time with them... so i guess i may be just a tad bit phobic when it comes to a dude approaching me :)

Your comment did not offend me at all, but I will address a few of your questions before i head to the downtown core for some Canada Day fun. 1) There is no proof Obama is doing it to get re elected , it is just assumed because it is close to election time. It doesn't hurt to hope that there is some integrity in what he has said although that cannot be proven either. 2) And as for your last remark about how it would not hurt them if they are not allowed to be married, It would still play on your mind enough that it would make you feel sad or helpless that the person you love is not allowed to join you together in unison. However, that is mostly mental anguish but *in my opinion* that unrest would be at a higher level than a heterosexual's sadness of seeing a gay man or woman marry.

So, where does it prohibit? Changing topics to a later post: A few decades ago, we had similar discussion about the sanctity of interracial marriage. From a judicial and citizenry perspective, it is important to separate various religious sacraments and ceremonies of marriage from marriage as a "domestic legal union," as now cited in our state constitution. #Unrelated: It is interesting how the poll for this thread is now even. |

Found something in Acts, but it just talks about fornication. http://bible.cc/acts/15-20.htm Some define fornication as follows: "The Greek word for ‘fornication’ (porneia) could include any sexual sin committed after the betrothal contract. …In Biblical usage, ‘fornication’ can mean any sexual congress outside monogamous marriage." Based on this interpretation, I believe sex relations, within the context of marriage, is permissible. If there are some other verses in the new testament, please let me know. |

Oh sorry, I thought the picture had an implicit association with the frequently cited "don't lie with another man" Leviticus verse.
Know this first site is like super bias, but according to Stanford, the term homosexuality wasn't invented until the 19 century. You know me though, I'm siding with the translation argument outlined in your About.com article. http://www.gaychristian101.com/Define-Arsenokoites.html http://plato.stanford.edu/entries/homosexuality/ |

not wholly true, a few decades ago the discussion was whether or not to allow a society where all people regardless of colour were treated as equals. I dont think u can compare racial segregation and injustice with the inequalities of gays and l3sbians.

Hey Trinity, I'm sorry for the ambiguity of my original post. By we, I was referring to NC and our previous constitutional amendment (from 1875-1971) that prohibited interracial marriage. http://www.newsobserver.com/2012/05/05/2044515/the-marriage-amendment-1875.html http://www.buzzfeed.com/mjs538/the-last-time-north-carolina-amended-their-constit |

Ok so obviously the "gay is bad" argument is clearly based on religious beliefs so if this was a court of law and phantaci was waiting to be chosen for the jury he would get dropped like a rock but CS would get chosen because at least he thinks gay oral sex is ok and would rather homosexuals blend in so they can infiltrate and eventually be elected president.

Didn't want to create a new thread, but want to keep you all updated.
According to the New York Times, all 32 ballot measures on same sex marriage have been won by opponents. On November 6th, Washington can change that with Referendum 74. Showing support for same sex marriage, Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon, and his wife, MacKenzie Bezos, donated $2.5 million dollars. Bill Gates and Steven A. Ballmer of Microsoft each gave $100,000. Ms. Cast, who use to work at Amazon, wrote, “I want to have the right to marry the love of my life and to let my children and grandchildren know their family is honored like a ‘real’ family.... We need help from straight people. To be very frank, we need help from wealthy straight people who care about us and who want to help us win.” She asked for 100-200k. Jeff replied, “This is right for so many reasons. We’re in for $2.5 million." http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/07/27/amazons-founder-pledges-2-5-million-in-support-of-same-sex-marriage/?hp |

k gotcha now, point taken. Im just back from holiday so I wasnt blanking u m8! I re-read my response (it was posted when I was leaving) and its a tad cold so apologies if I came across a little hostile/touchy. The seperation of church and state has long been the desire for atheists and agnostics which I understand. But many of your laws were inherited in principle from England and her laws are based on both canonical and common laws. Also I once read that a large minority of middle America are fundamentalist christians hence the difficulty in passing such a law in (some states of) America
