Welcome Recruits!

You have chosen to enter the world of MAG, where you will choose a private military that you will give your life, liberty, and loyalty to. You will be challenged in a way that you have never experienced, you will fight for money, power, and for the life of you and your brothers. The military you may choose will leave you little room for mistake, if your superiors don't tear you a new one, your comrades will.

allow me to give you the rundown:

What is MAG?

The year is 2025. Global unrest has created a thriving market for a new kinds of army, and a new breed of soldier. With world leaders unable to utilize traditional military channels, Private Military Corporations began to emerge. The Shadow War is the secret conflict waged by the “big three” PMCs: Raven SVER, and Valor. Soldiers without a country, the contractors fight wars that never happened.

PMC's:

Raven:

Based in Vienna, Austria, Raven offers cutting-edge capabilities and high-tech expertise in today’s modern-day marketplace. State-of-the-art technology and revolutionary weaponry allow Raven to secure and defend markets with precision and effectiveness.

Valor:

Headquarted in the Alaskan wilderness, Valor Company, Inc. is a private military with a commitment to the improving today’s political and economic conditions. Squads are trained to focus on flexibility and adaptability with battlefield-tested equipment, weaponry and vehicles.

S.V.E.R.:

An unconventional approach and aggressive response to ever-changing security concerns in today’s volatile geo-political climate. With guerilla tactics and diversified skills, S.V.E.R. prides itself on a ruthless dedication to total victory in any given situation.

Now, people may ask, "What's the difference?" Let me tell you:

Raven: Has the fastest shooting, most accurate, least recoil, but also the least damage per shot.

Valor: The middle child, Moderate everything.

S.V.E.R.: Has the slowest shooting, least accurate, most recoil, but also the most damage.

Other than that, everything else is cosmetic.

Types of Armor:

There are a few different types of armor, overlooking the special pre-order armor that only takes 800c to wear.

  • You will have mesh (lightest) which allows you to carry more and run for longer periods of time, but you'll be more vulnerable. This takes 600c to wear.

  • Ballistic Vest(Medium), which allows you to carry slightly less and won't be able to run as far, but you'll be able to soak of a few more rounds. This takes 800c to wear.

  • Finally, you have Reinforced Ballistic (heavy), the strongest armor available; you'll be able to soak up the most rounds but you won't be able to hold as many High-C equipment. This takes 1000c to wear.

  • The pre-order armor is a mystery for the moment as to how much it can soak up and how long you can run with it. It will hold as much as medium and I'd assume it to be slightly better than medium and slightly worse than heavy. Or it can be completely cosmetic, we'll find out come tomorrow (Jan. 26th).

Command Structure:

The command structure is something you will experience in every map. You will have your Squad Leaders, who overlook a squad of 8 men. You have your Platoon Leaders who overlook 4 squads, 32 people. And finally, the OIC, the head honcho, He overlooks all four platoons, 128 people.

Now....people will ask, "How will you keep the mics clear? That's a LOT of people". You can only communicate between 8 people if you're a regular player. You also have proximity chat, so don't be running your mouth if you're trying to sneak up on someone!

Squad leaders will not only hear their squads, but they will also be able to communicate with each other and the platoon leader in a seperate channel.

Platoon leaders, the platoon leaders will be able to communicate with their squad, their squad leaders, other platoon leaders, and the OIC. Platoon leaders will be able to broadcast to all their squads.

The OIC will be able to do all of that plus broadcast to every platoon.

Command Abilities:

  Squad Leader Abilities:

  • Attacking*:
  •
    • UAV: A UAV comes to the area you marked to reveal enemies on your radar.
    • Air Strike: A single-seat jet fighter flies over the area you marked, dropping a pay-load of clusterbombs.
  • Defending:

  •
    • Mortar Strike**: Bombards the area you marked with artillery rounds

    • Precision Strike**: Drops a sensor-shell on the area you mark, designed to destroy vehicles. (Use it on enemy APC's).

Platoon Leader Abilities:

  • Attacking*:
    • Strafing Run: A jet makes several strafing runs through the marked area.
    • Precision Bomb: A jet makes a pass and drops a bunker buster on any emplacement, immediatly destroying it.

  • Defending:
    • Gas Barrage**: A mortar battery sends a barrage of gas rounds to the marked area.
    • Sensor Sweep***: The sensors scan the area, revealing enemies on your radar.

OIC Abilities:

  • Attacking & Defending:
    • Blockade: Increases the spawn time for the enemy
    • Rapid Deployment: Decreases the spawn time for your team
    • Tactical reset: Resets the cooldowns on all of your team's leadership abilities.
    • ECM Jam: Jams the other team's command structure and communications. No abilities can be fired and you cannot open your enlarged map and nobody will appear on your radar. You are blind.

*AAA Must be destroyed first

**Mortars must be operational

***Sensor Array must be operational.

 Game Modes:

  •  Suppression: Your classical team-deathmatch, you and other members from your faction play against each other in war-games. Whoever's bar depletes first, loses. DOES NOT CONTRIBUTE TO THE SHADOW WAR, but does award exp, recommended for new people to get used to the game.

  • Sabotage: You and your team either attack or defend a map, in which you are either attacking/defending two forward objectives. Should you lose ownership of both, a final objective will unlock, if you lose/gain this objective, you will win/lose.
  • Acquisition: Your objective is to take/defend the enemy team's experimental vehicles. This is when you're first introduced to bunkers, APC's, AAA, and command abilities. You'll first need to destroy/defend the AAA (it's advised to keep the bunkers up/down), once the AAA is destroyed, you will have a forward spawn point, where you will be able to parachute down *Warning: You can be shot while parachuting*.  After you take the AAA down, you will then need to destroy any gates or barricades that may get in the way. After you do so, go to the garages and hack the door open, hop in the vehicle, and drive it to the spot marked on your map. The vehicles CAN BE DESTROYED so be careful and avoid any barricades, mines, or troops with RPG's. It would be wise to have a second man to man the MG.
  • Domination: The biggest game-mode available. Here is where you will experience the game to its fullest. The process is rather simple, You will need to capture and hold two burnoff towers, after that you will need to do the same with two cooling towers. After that, the final objectives will unlock, where you will need to hold them. While holding the final objectives, a damage bar at the top of the screen will fill, when it is full, the attacking team wins.
