Well in the UK we have an election coming up next week thursday 6th May to decide who is going to run the country for the next 5 years. Currently we have the labour party at the helm (they're like the Democrats) Conservatives are the party most likely to get in (Republicans) and Liberal Democrats are the party who seem to be most popular for the undecided or alternative voters. For the 1st time i'm undecided I must admit and i'm sure i'm not alone.
Just wanna know what you guys in UK are thinking RE election; anyone else please post too as long as its not "Fk UK etc".

Speaking of election 2010, I think I'll be voting this time around.  I'm kind of glad I skipped out last time.  Just look at how my last two choices for prez have been.  I can't believe I wanted either to win, let alone Bush.  I kind of wish Al Gore won now.  The economy probably would of been in somewhat better shape and we might of even had the green ideas implemented much better.  If I knew that the Independents had a chance, I'd be voting for them this year.

@ Trinity. Just don't vote for change. A small majority of Americans did and we're well on the road to ruin.

@Silver. Shame on you for not voting last time!!!

I don't usually vote either but this year I think I will even though not one party fits my ideals, most are not even close.  I don't trust politicians because they're all talk and no walk.  My views are usually quite liberal but I'm extremely opinionated about things like the judicial system and immigration for the sake of immigration... I don't like wasters LOL

I wont vote Tory because of their stand on taxes and that they favour the rich.  I admit that Labour did a half decent job of running the gaff over the past 13 years but I don't think Gordon Brown is a good Prime Minister for us therefore will not be voting Labour as a statement of non-acceptance of Mr Brown.  In the same breath I can't likely vote Lib Dem either (even though that's who I'm leaning towards) because if they get enough votes there will be a hung parliament and I believe that in that case it'll be a Lib Dem/Labour split government and that also means that Brown gets in.

We're in a royal pickle!

i swing right on almost all economic issues, but our Right is too far right on social issues for me.
I'm actually proly pretty left on social issues.

foreign policy has tended to be less about ideology since Berlin Wall came down, and I think Obama is actually doing a descent job.

Economic issues are most important to me and we are headed in a terrible direction here. I will proly go Republican, although they always manage to make me feel icky about voting for them, since I despise the religious wing of the party and everything hey stand for.

And Palin's a blithering idiot ...

that we are.. i feel like its a choice of the best out of a bad bunch, rather then having any belief in any of them.

I dunno, I don't think NOT voting is making the statement I want although I do think sometimes 'whats the point theyre all the same'. its just that not voting doesn't entitle me to criticise..better a protest vote for another party but im not sure

When I go in to vote I'll be in there for ages drawing some lovely obscene piece of art on my voting slip lol  I might be able to get all of the main party leaders captured in a circle of a$$ f*cking ;)

The other option is to add your own tick box at the bottom for "chuck norris"  lol

If you'd seen the debates and how much they were brown-nosing each other, trying not to alienate each other just in case there's a hung parliament, you'd agree with them doing it to each other Wink

I imagine the lib dem guy would be getting spit roasted by the other two.
Maybe Brown would be in his mouth and and the Tory guy from behind.

I guess you could say he's not doing too bad of a job, beyond maybe the health care.  You can't really blame this recent oil rig disaster on him either.  Palin's the main reason I was against McCain.  Come on man, that can't be the best Republican female running mate, can it?  Honestly, his decision to pick a different type (i.e. not white male) of canidate to me just seemed.. umm.. kind of rushed..  Honestly, I can imagine there being much more competent female Republicans than Palin.  She wasn't even Governor for 2 years. (With Governors, I'd figure that 4 years would be the least I'd want them to be in office before I consider them President worthy and that's the group I'm least strict with.)

i still think  the republicans should of got mitt romney, i think that would of been a better contender for obama and could of been a great debate between the two.

What? and miss the chance 2 b1tch 4 the next 5 years about how i elected the wrong party? Nah, tbh I don't think its a meaningful way of using your vote. I agree Cloudy that no party/candidate stand out and a hung parliament is on the cards. Brown isnt a leader...Blair will testify to that but Milliband could b the guy to take over.

Hey the indicators are that the Torys wont get the majority...19 seats short but neither will Labour b able to form a government with Lib Dems cos together they dont reach the majority total. Re-election on the cards? Hmmn! increasing possibility it seems.
EDIT This would be labours best result they will effectively retain control for a few more months and possibly replace Brown with a more charismatic leader well a leader with a bit more Balls - just not Ed eh!

^^yea if Lib Dems and the Posh form a coalition then Brown will b forced to resign. So better he go and we get Milligan (or johnson) and open talks with LDs. I think no party is actually strong enough but we def dont want tories running the country - guess the banks will b pleased at the prospect tho.

Oh god yeah they'll be loving it... The only thing that'll save us from them hiking up mortgage rates and borrowing rates is that inflation is controlled by the Bank of England, which thanks to Labour, is now independent of the government meaning that although the BoE will respond to changes in policy they won't allow ridiculous rates and the high street banks generally follow the BoE quite closely.

What's going to chaff me big time about a Tory government is going to be the cuts in healthcare and public services, the tax changes that will punish the working class in order to favour the upper classes, they're going to get rid of things like inheritance tax and windfall tax and that means that things like council tax, income tax and national insurance will rise.  We'll be f*cked basically.

So... who doesn't live in the UK who would like to offer me a home for 5 years?  lol

Free to a good home:  Well trained, clean and hard working woman seeks new home.  Is smart and well educated, has good SOH, no health problems, and is amicable with others music and film tastes.  Has own teeth
LOL
