Anyone playing Nexuiz on PC? It looks like the next "UT3" for the PC and there are console versions coming soon. Just wanted to see if there are any players that are already on this game. I'll be setting up today under the handle pinakul or pinnacle.

A brief synopsis:
Nexuiz is a 3d deathmatch game that has been in development since the summer of 2002. The goal of the project is to create a high quality first person shooter that can be played freely across all platforms in one package: PC, Mac, and can be even included in Linux distributions. The game is entirely open source, with the sources of the engine, gamecode, map files, and compiling tools, all included with the download, all under the GPL license. The gameplay is deathmatch with the most excessive possible speeds and weapons, giving incredibly intense fast paced action. Along with deathmatch, there are multiple gamemodes such as team deathmatch, capture the flag, domination, and many mutators and weapon options like rocket arena and instagib. The user can fight through the single player campaign, going through over 20 levels, or play online with our server browser. Nexuiz is based on the Darkplaces engine, built on http://www.opengl.org/ - OpenGL technology . The darkplaces engine is an advanced Quake1 based engine developed mainly by Forest "LordHavoc" Hale, who has been working with the Quake1 engine for many years. A few of Darkplaces main features are Quake3bsp support, realtime lighting and shadowing, new particle effects, advanced menu system, and Md3 model support. -------------  |

I think the version that is available 2.5.2 is still a beta, but it sounds like it's fully functional and playable. I also suck at KB/M but after watching the video on the website, it look UT3-ish enough for me to give it a go.

just went to alientrap's forum and looked on the illfonic nexuiz thread and the developer has stated there is no plans for no kb/m support for nexuiz console yet... here the link http://alientrap.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=6043that comment is highlighted in green. im not sure if changes has been made for kb/m though since this was stated back in march.. but i saw it and thought i would post it here so the kb/m players would know.. even though most players who play kb/m can also play with controlller too ------------- |

i know its a shame. i was looking forward to what i saw when i watched nexuiz pc gameplay.. but when i found out nexuiz on ps3 has only the name that is the same.. and the rrest is going to be differnt from the pc version... i was a lil anoyed.. but ah well i still have confidence nexuiz ps3 will be good :) ------------- |

how would u know what the console gameplay is like? the only gameplay videos available are the trailers and its all noobs playing so u cant see the skill lol.. its annoying when some of the people who play in the trailers/advertisments are crap and make the game look crap cos of it lol... but yeah i know i would love if a copy of nexuiz pc is bought to console.. not like ive played it but ive saw some montages and got excited about playing that on ps3..... :( ------------- |

Even if there is no Support in the Game all you need is a XIM (Xbox Input Machine) to Use Kb/m on any game/Console. Thats how i use kb/m on Call of Duty on Xbox/PS3   -------------

UT was a QUAKE knock off and Quake based their idea on DOOM but with team modes if I recall correctly. A lot of the animosity around UT3 and modes is because UT diversified into vehicle modes to give it more appeal and an identity away from solely foot based FPS fraggers. So yeah ur correct its like Quake not UT and I doubt that it will b as polished as Quake (although EnemyMine or whatever was barely luke warm playing wise) but it will still stir interest here cos its the only thing remotely like UT. It does have similar weapons, maps, jump pads, health, damage amp (strength) etc to UT3 and there are 1 on 1 maps. PC/Mac version is crude but fun. Better than QAA or QL? If its as good as either with good active level of participation and server support then it'll b worth it. In truth the community is small so proly it'll b short lived and in the meantime much hyped. I havent gone online with Nexuiz although ive just built a new PC (got Nexiuz on Mac) bt if anyone has whats it like?? ------------- Cos I'm Wonderman...I'll take that knife and shove it up your a$$! |

computer entertainment system, nothing about it says controller only.. i for one am all about it being used to whatever capabilities its possible of, Keyboard and mouse works much better for alot of style of games, and things like the ps3 sharpshooter that sony is releasing in feburary for kz3 isnt a controller either.. you gonna cry about that aswell? as far as nexuiz.. it already was pretty much a kiddy version of quake.. consolizing it on top of that.. oh boy

i know ive seen that vid. i did say there was a diference.. that oits nothing like pc gameplay.. i said that :S and the fact its not like the pc version at all annoys me since all this time i thought ps3 version would be like pc version.... i even said that too :S i just said that i dont like watching trailers for gameplay sometimes.. especially with games like ut3, nexuiz etc cos the people playing them make the gameplay look crap lol ------------- |

anyone else notice how ridciulous the weapons are in this game? watch the top video.. people getting peppered with all kinds of shots, including multiple sniper hits and they arent dying. -------------

after watching console nexuiz, #1 they need to speed it up to ut3 console speed, #2 the guys playing it are terribad.
on the pc video that dude was getting amazings and airshots like it was his day job lolol
im sorry say quake is the daddy of it all but i like ut the most and i like nexuiz more than quake. ------------- |

It does look a bit more faster..and I do agree..UT3 is slow..that was the fastest game I ever played until QAA. Play QAA on 360 for like a long ass time and then try playin ut3..lol The gameplay seems so choppy and slow..i thought i was lagging on host.
