its maybe not a maintenance, i heard the "Anonymous" group is in conflict with Sony. They may be attacked the psn

i havent read to much into the hackers stuff but ive just read on the playstation blog and someone posted that the anonymous hackers di threaten to bring down ps store/ psn.... well looked like they kept to their promise -_- ------------- |

PSN is starting to annoy me, 2 diff service agreements, constant error's making online play impossible. i mean i know its free and XBL cost money, but damn, they need to srsly step it up! i thought it was either my internet or wireless connection messing up on me and then i tried going onto the internet with my laptop and it was fine, so i figured it was a playstation network maintenance thing ... then my sis told me about an hr ago that some ppl are hacking or messing with sony ... grrrr ... annoying ------------- |

They are a group of people who are f***ing with Sony because of the litigation imvolving two jailbreakers of the sony ps3. They believe the jailbreakers did nothing wrong and do not deserve to be in court, either that or they got bored waiting for GTA 5. -------------  |

the reason they are attaxcking sony is because of the legal actions that were taken agains "geoHOT".. the hacker who jailbroke the ps3.... the reason for the attack on sony is because that he had never made a psn online account so therefore he never agreed to the terms and conditions of being online as he never made an account.. basically he was being sued for a agreement he never made.. thats what this has all been about in the eyes of anonymous... also because of geohots actions sony had paypal to give them info such as ip adresses on all the people that visited the forum sites and social messages sites that was linked to geoHOT.... therefore exposing thousands of innocent people's information. This is not the only attack that annonymous has carried out.. they carry out attacks on various cmpanies websites or even small websites when they feel that those companies had done something wrong and they deserve to be payed back... Anonymous grow in numbers as anyone can contribute and take part to the groiups actions... all they have to do is give up their pc's to the hacker groups.. just by giving their consent the hackers can use a persons computer to send traffic to the various websites in order to shut them down.... ------------- |

They have "Ddos" playstation strore yeasterday... They always do "ddos" for hacking. I'm not sure if it is possible to DDOS the PSN... Maybe Aqua would know.

Why do I have a feeling that if "Anonymous" keeps doing this, everyone else will end up suffering the consequences. I'm not saying what they are doing is wrong, but they must have balls to mess with a billion dollar company like Sony. well yeah everyone who couldnt get onto psn suffered already lol but technically they are just banding people together online to form protests about "things they feel should be done" to pay back companies that were in the wrong lol... but your right they do have alot of balls to go up against sony and the other companies they fought before lol ------------- |

In theory all he did was jailbreak. He never gave consent and signed away his rights. Look at it another way, if you installed linux on the ps3 , it was not illegal. What geo did is the same thing, only his program allows the ps3 to include pirated software. Pirated software he DID NOT promote. ------------- |

^ and thats exactly why geohot along with other hackers believed what he done was not wrong... and that sony over reacted. his only reasoning for jailnbreaking his ps3 what not to steal.. but to create and play his own games... he never signed anything that never allowed him to do that ------------- |

geoHOT is a smart guy... He knew what he was doing when he made his knowledge public. He knew that this jailbreak would be used for legitimate means as well as piracy, and also knew this would give him the fame and recognition that he desired... Anonymous is using geoHot's misfortune as a way of legitimizing, to the public, their illegal actions and hatred towards Sony, etc.
Sony is over reacting in the attempt to deter other hackers from publishing their work / code.

What he did was not a tort bain, to break and enter into someone's house is a property issue within the law and would be a tort commited against me. The ps3 was his own purchase, he did not promote nor did he advocate the use of pirated materials. Companies reverse engineer products all the time to make them better and earn market share. In the case of Mr. Geo he simply reverse engineered a PS3 and made it public how he did it. In that sense he made a product better, furthermore, by not signing the online contract with sony he is not bound by said terms within the contract. The only contract he would have would be the one year manufacturer's warranty, which was forfitted upon him tinkering with the innards of the machine and it's software. There was no profit to be made of these actions as well.
Now to counter this arguement, if said person used the sony logo to promote what was done or said person promoted the use of piracy I believe this man is not only stupid but very much guilty.
Pinakul would be the best person to reply to this thread , he has much more knowledge in litigation than I have and would be the only person on these forums who could predict the outcome of the trial, my above statements are speculations within the law.
