Left out England because their best wingers rn are a 19 year old and James Milner (lol) .. and I had to leave room for USA even though they have no shot unless Altidore turns out to be a f***ing god for the national team.

Regardless it's 22 days away. :D

My underdog - Croatia
My winner - Germany

wait, b4 u do read my reply.
USA - success is Altidore actually scoring, he's a big lump of horse sh1t with a p3nis for a brain
England - Success is getting out of the group AND were happy cos Suarez (the best player on the planet last year) is less than 50/50 for making the finals. BTW Milner isnt as bad as ppl think, he plays much better than most for the country. Sterling - well he'll prolly b a sub which tells u all u need 2 know about our ambitions.
MY PICK: Brazil - home advantage, support and an awesome side that even big Phil Scolari cant fk up.
Top Eu side: France cos they have a real easy group and will at least get to the quarter finals
Dark horses:Ivory Coast (best of the africans)
Underdogs: Spain lol cos every1 says theyre finished. Idk the heat will play a big part so maybe Colombia (pity bout Falcao) Chile (looked well good when they beat us at wembley and have stacks of talent) or Belgium (awesome young stars maybe too soon for them and a pity bout Benteke though they have Lukaku).
I tried a few days ago but pc rebooted when afk so at least theyre 2 of us interested ..maybe that'll save yer from jumping

Well damn, looking at the Italy/Luxem. I would have thought they would itch out two wins after Euros 2012.

France are quality.. but I can't put them above Spain or Germany, especially with their young/old defenders. Also disappointed Ben Arfa wasn't selected, he and Ribery on the wings is easily my favorite duo on Fifa. But it'll definitely be Belgium and France as favorites in 2018, looking at their youngsters.

Spain still are favorites, just not mine. I dont want them to win because I want to see excitement for another country. Especially having both the runner-ups and the champions of the CL.

And Cote D'ivore are the best from Africa but their stars are too old to keep up in this cup. Will have to live or die on set pieces.

I just really don't know who will win honestly. It's open. Natural quality says Germany, history says Spain. Brazil or Argentina are the other two who have a chance to take this away from the Europeans.

hey what the fk every1 gone dutch? Brazil r CFC in disguise so u gotta support them. And phhiLLN the heat will make the old elephants compete with Colombia and Japan. Cant see anyone running hard 4 90 mins so England and USA will be gone early - we only know the physical game. Teams like S.Korea, Colombia, Chile and Ivory Coast r better suited to the environment and type of football needed to secure points in early rounds.

well I like the Netherlands as well but unless they can finish above Spain in the group stage I see them leaving early vs Brazil in the second round. they will have a very tough road

Oh well, the Netherlands just showed what's what haha.

Rooting for Germany of course, but their chances are not that good tbh. We didn't put up great performances in the practice matches and now our best (imo) field player Marco Reus can't play anymore, we will have a very tough time in the group phase already..

But it's really hard to predict anything here, so many good players and teams (and such bad referees until now hahaha)

Well, imo France was disappointing but still hard to tell. Don't think they will have a great chance to go far past group phase.

Brazil have good chances to go real far, looking forward to their match vs. Mexico tomorrow. They have such a great team even though their 1st match was nothing too special.

Netherlands made things interesting, didn't really expect them to be that strong and only heard bad things before. One match is not everything, but high potential for sure !

Spain got rayped, but mostly because Holland did a great job taking their entire game apart. They still got potential to win this. As I said, one match is not everything. They are still one of the best teams and will probably step their game up for upcoming matches.

Italy played a solid match and have good chances to take it to quarter finals at least.

Argentinia is not too dangerous really, but they have an easy group.

And well, Portugal just got destroyed Embarrassed the red card showed some players are just not fit to play world class matches, if you can't handle the stress in the first match then bye bye.

Besides having 11v10 advantage for most parts, Germany did a great job anyway. Much better than the qualifying and practice matches. Mueller is the sh1t ! Clap If they keep it up they have great chances of reaching the final

& even though they are missing Reus I still think they can beat anybody. They really only need wing backs and a more athletic striker, but I guess we'll see how it turns out, anything can happen.

Lookin forward to the last match of group phase ;) if the USA team plays like they just did, it will be tough for us to win or at least hold a tie..

The problem with football is that a lot of countries just wouldn't be able to compete. Too many latinos are too short. (same goes with asians). Let's be honest, football is a black and white man's sport lmao. But white men can't jump and they aren't the fastest in the world. So which is why football will remain a North American sport.

Well the europeans on this site just called it hand egg, doesnt look like they are worried about filling a physical requirement. I love football , played it in high school and some of my best friends on that team come from latin families, moreover there were alot of great latin players that played in the NFL.

I'm german and I dont give a ****, because it just bores me.
Just because you "get knocked the f*** down" (with lots n lots of protection on you) doesn't make the sport better. Nothing makes a sport better than the other.

But competition isn't the reason Phant, maybe latinos and asians couldn't compete, maybe, but that still doesn't rule out most of Europe. Or Africa. It's just not popular here, same goes for baseball..

Anyway, back on topic, I'm glad the US is putting in a good team for the world cup, makes things more interesting and has already brought some surprises.

The specialised random old guys off the streets they show on our TV in between matches say our style is very unlike the past and mostly based around defending and trying to counter quickly. They seem to agree both 2010 and 2014 are ugly football though.

Have fun with France and Brazil on your side of the playoffs once Germany tops their group.

I'm currently messing with this thing with predictions presumably computed based on previous matches http://www.bloomberg.com/visual-data/world-cup/#0,3,-1" rel="nofollow - http://www.bloomberg.com/visual-data/world-cup/#0,3,-1
Somehow they didn't predict GER 4 - 0 POR and NED 5 - 1 SPA.

They also have predictions on how likely teams are to win etc:

For both teams it was a chill match, no need to go too hard. Risk of injuries is too high considering they knew Portugal scored so they both had it easy

If you can kick out Ghana and Portugal, it's kinda your sport.. Not your best, but still kinda good

naw USA was real weak against Germany Dagon... I was shocked that Germany didn't score 3 or 4 goals even though Germany did start pretty much only working on the clock the last 30 minutes... Germany's play style and agressive defense was far better then USA's... Thats coaching

Germany are just superhuman (even poorly coached recently) and they just exposed USA for what they really are.

in terms of skill inside of the team USA are easily part of the lower tier in the cup. Ghana, Portugal, Germany have 5+ champions league players at top clubs, USA have 1. to have performed this well in this group was really amazing\ but at the same time expected because the USA are always underdogs that can't be ***ed with.

and as for sports, I played American football for 11 years of my life and quit because I fell in love with soccer but by then it was too late to play for any teams

I enjoy playing soccer more but really, it's just what you prefer. shouldn't be arguing about sports

but being a fan of both, I would say -- American Football is a better sport for competitive play.
American football is just something that involves more emotions. Especially college football in which every game is a play off game for the top teams (well it was in the BCS era)

The problem with soccer for me is the MONEY.  It's ridiculous how much the european clubs are dependent on money for their success. if a big club is doing terrible, the owner is being blamed for not spending money to buy more players instead of the players for their performance. also how a player cannot make his team his own, but is bought from a richer team and has to wait his turn to get into the team. in America there have been a lot of cases in which a team was built around one player, or got better after a player's arrival. in Europe it's always the same damn teams.

but. I hope soccer gets bigger in America.  only because I want our country to the best at another thing ppl care about ;-)

To be honest its grown men playing a huge game of keep away for the most part... It does take a lot of agility and stamina, but its not a hard hitting sport like American football... On average the players have to be in a lot better shape then American football players do

hey don't b so sure bout beating France as long as Djourou isn't starting and they don't go 4-3-3 its 50/50. Germany are vulnerable to pace and France have plenty. That said German will to win and superior teamwork makes it a tough call. I got money on France tho from b4 the tourny - sorry. Viva La France!
BTW gotta say USA USA USA! - awesome displays along with Australia Algeria Mexico Ghana ..and Chile and Colombia too! (my fave side). These teams have made it the most entertaining, competitive and open WC ever.

I like how the Germans sometimes pass the ball around; they don't seem to run very quickly though and they don't seem very dangerous near the goal the way they finish goals. They look best at the start of matches and when they take initiative.

True, but some more speed wouldn't hurt imo..

Still a good game, they kept France away all match even though they fought real hard, respect for that.

Our trainer made the right choices this time, real good defense work today. And Manuel Neuer is still the best keeper in the world, period !Embarrassed

Brazil seemed better while they tried, but Colombia had bad arbiter luck (like the free kick Brazil scored).
Maybe James' attitude on the field influenced the ref.

I guess they'll miss 2 important players against Germany.

We keep getting some clips from old dutch player Van Nistelrooij who appearantly does stuff at ESPN. What kind of stuff does he do during world cup matches?

I stopped cheering after the 4th goal cause I felt kinda bad for the people of Brazil. But when they started hating on one of their own players, Fred, everytime he touched the ball, I was feeling fine again haha. What a dirty and unfair move to pull as "fans"

Seriously though, ppl will complain it's Colombias fault cause they took out Neymar.. In the end, we tore apart Brazils defense, nothing to do with him.

lols. that's what happens when the fans expect too much. brazil have no strikers. they should have brought up lucas from psg and played willian. I knew they had zero chance to advance

I don't know how ppl couldn't see that Germany were going to dominate this cup. It's like Bayern Munich minus speed + khedira. and they don't have to go against teams that have gods from different countries like ronaldo and ramos (and bale I guess) If germany don't win it'll be a huge disappointment

+ Sorry for doubting the Netherlands. :-( I didn't know Spain would be such a big disappointment in this cup

So they're saying that is twice as hard to score a goal in soccer than in hockey?

And score would have been 49 - 7 in nfl terms wish is the same kind of ass beating lol

Didn't think Argentinia would win this, but as every match so far, they barely made it. If they're gonna play like they did every match, they will get destroyed.
No way I can picture them world champions, Holland would've deserved that but not Argentinia..

We just wanted to show Germany that allowing Brazil scoring oppertunities is sloppy

Post-loss interviews of players are really inane and prying of the journalists

Germany doesn't have the problems the Netherlands have in playing forward through the midfield, so they should be fine to win.
The dutch players don't care for third place but will get it.

Hopefully Germany and Netherlands win. I think Germany will just because of the way they are playing. Who knows how Brazil will play though. They shouldn't play as bad as they did against Germany.

Brazil can thank all high powers they didn't get humiliated even more. Holland could've shot 7 goals, if they really went hard.

Brazil played as well as the referee. It's hard to keep trying against someone playing that poorly.
